What is the difference between linear velocity and angular velocity?
Linear velocity (V) is a length displacement for a time (metres per second) Angular velocity (W omega) is an angle displacement for a time ( radians per second) Both can be related in the case where the object is moving about a point of rotation at a radius r. ##V=W*r## I you consider the relationship in the case of a spinning disc. As you move out from the centre the radius is increasing so the velocity increases for a constant angular velocity. Angular velocity is sometimes given in revolutions per second or minute. One revolution is just ##2Pi## radians.
