What is the difference between the leading strand and the lagging strand in DNA replication?
Leading strand is replicated in 5'-3' direction while the lagging strand replicates in the reverse direction as that of the leading one.
The complementary base pairing for the leading strand is continuous while that for the lagging it is discontinuous, in the form of small fragments known as Okazaki fragments. RNA primer required for the initiation of replication is only one in the leading strand while there are many RNA primer required in the replication for the lagging strand .
