QUESTION

What kind of boundary is formed when two lithospheric plates slide past each other?

Transform (conservative) boundaries.

Transform boundaries do not construct or destruct crust, they simply slide past each other. This creates extreme friction between the plates and often creates faults, such as the San Andreas fault, which is the boundary between the North American plate and the Pacific plate sliding past each other.
