QUESTION

What temperature scale is used in Canada?

Canadians, like people in most of the world, use the Celsius scale.

Canadians, like people in most of the world, use the Celsius scale. Mostly.

If you want to know the outside temperature, you'll find it in degrees Celsius. Unless you're near the border with the United States, in which you may find Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. A Canadian oven will probably measure temperature in Fahrenheit, and water temperatures are frequently also measured in these units. If you need to buy a thermometer, you can find one that gives readings in both degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit, as is the case in the United States.

Scientists, however, use either degrees Celsius or Kelvin as they do everywhere. While the Canadian "man on the street" may have trouble baking or finding the weather, at least the scientists have gotten with the program.

OK.
