What was "wage slavery" in company towns?
If one was a indentured servant, one was a wage slave.
Indentured servants would sign a paper that agreed to do practically anything their master asked them in return for land and simple supplies to start a new life in America. They would often serve a seven year term, before they were allowed to "be free." Part of the payment for the work they did, was free passage to the New World.
