When is applied force equal to friction. Can u please explain me this? If you also include examples, it will be best :)
If you have no idea about friction check
There are types of frictional . They are
- Static frictional force
- Dynamic frictional force.
So first let me explain you where those force comes to play their role.
Consider you push a large wooden block .
- First you will feel that it is harder to push , but by the increment of applied force the block starts to move.
This happens because the friction force. Once the friction force can not bear the force applied by you the block will starts to move.
So when the applied force is equal to friction force , still the block is in the rest.Because there is no horizontal component of forces which effect for the motion of the block.
Because to move the block there should be horizontal force. So finally when the applied force equal to friction the object is stay at rest.
