When the taxpayer uses Section 179, but he cannot use all of it because he does not have enough income, for example, TP purchased a piece of equiptment for $500,000, but he only has $300,000 in income for the year. Then I understand that he can carry forward the amount he couldn't take as a deduction the first year, but is this amount reduced by the allowable depreciation in the second year. In this example, assuming they have 50,000 in allowable depreciaiton the first year, and 300,000 in income again the second year, would he get to deduct the full amount of the carried forward amount, here $200,000; or would it only be $150,000 that he could deduct the second year (the carried forward amount reduced by the amount of allowable depreciation the first year?
