Who were the groups of workers represented by the Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labor?
Each group represented skilled labor.
The difference between the two was in how each union conducted strikes. The Knights of Labor, the predecessor to the AFL, would conduct strikes against individual factories for one small group of skilled labor. The AFL would have all skilled labor they represented in a mill go on strike even though the grievance was that of a particular group.
