Who won the Battle of Tippecanoe?
American military forces under the command of William Henry Harrison.
The battle was fought in modern-day western Indiana between Shawnees under the leadership of Tenskwatawa and his half brother Tecumseh (not present at the battle) and militia forces led by Indiana's territorial governor William Henry Harrison. These militia, along with a small contingent of US Army regulars advanced on the Shawnee village in early November 1811. The battle began in the early morning of November 7. While the native forces were defeated, historians disagree as to the impact of the victory, despite a general setback to the confederacy building efforts of Tecumseh.
