Why did the Framers want a limited government? How did the Framers make sure that the government created by the Constitution is indeed limited? In other words, explain the principles or structures they embedded in the Constitution to guarantee limited government?

Examine the three branches of American government. 

First, analyze the tension between local representation and national lawmaking. 

Second, analyze the tension between the president's powers and the constitutional checks on presidential power. 

Lastly, determine whether the Supreme Court is really apolitical (not political) as the Framers intended it to be. Are there institutional rules and/or political influences that shape the Supreme Court and the decisions it makes?

Although the Constitution provides for both national and state powers, the balance between the two and the narratives that justify it have changed considerably since it was written.
