Why do geologists know so little about Precambrian history?

Geologist do not know about the Precambrian Era because a lot of the evidence was destroyed a long time ago.

The reason we don't know about the Precambrian era is because the earth was still evolving and the creatures were still evolving which made it difficult for any type of fossil record to be recorded. Also it did not help when the mass extinction occurred.
