Why is downward mobility "hidden" in the U.S. media?

Why is downward mobility "hidden" in the U.S. media?

The media is not aware of it.

There is no reason to pay attention to it as people experiencing downward mobility  have only themselves to blame for their situation.

It does not conform to the "American Dream."

It does not affect the middle classes.

It does not exist in contemporary U.S. society.
