Why should we worry about containing healthcare costs?

Why should we worry about containing healthcare costs? Given that medical expenditures create new jobs, save lives, and alleviate pain and suffering, why should we care that healthcare spending is predicted to pass 20% of our Gross Domestic Product (roughly 20 cents out of every dollar spent in the U.S.) in just a few years? Explain why this is a problem or why it isn't.
