women's history discussion
Discussion question: American Society and the media, particularly women’s magazines, radio and television shows, as well as women’s fashion sought to move women back into the domestic sphere after the war. The governments (federal and state) played a role, too, in rekindling traditional gender roles. Nevertheless, colleges and universities increasingly included women, and the job market never completely closed to them. As had happened in a somewhat different way during Reconstruction a century earlier, American women observed the 1960s Civil Rights Movement and many joined with determination. Others found different ways to express their growing feminism. Discuss, being certain to include information and your interpretation of it from all your readings assigned for week six.
