In Joy’s case, she can be held liable for client abandonment because she failed to follow to abovementioned protocols before leaving on holiday. Even though, she did informed her colleagues about her decision to apply for the leave and go for the vacations and also left some of her colleagues responsible to deal with her clients while she was away, she did not inform her patients. Her patients mainly want to be helped with her and this is where she failed. She was supposed to involve her clients in the informed consent procedure under the Duty to Provide Care Practice Standards, but she did not. Therefore, this can be regarded as a case of client abandonment.
