Write 2 pages with APA style on Introduction to Business. / answer questions. 1. What are the most important values in your personal ethics? Ethical values are the decisions, which one makes with one’s own value system. My values are my principles and priorities, which help me in making decisions on daily basis. Therefore, in my personal ethics, the important values are honesty, relations, responsibility and growth. Since values constantly change and develop throughout our lives therefore, our personal ethical values also change. however, my behavior has been remained very consistent in this regard. I have always been considering honesty, relations and responsibility as most important personal ethical values however, as I continued to mature, growth became significant for me.

2. Do the values you answered in question one always apply, or are there times and circumstances that allow you to ignore them. Give some thought to this before answering.

The values, which I have mentioned above, are those, which have helped me to groom therefore, I have been always trying to apply them. I always try to prioritize my personal ethical values, so that, I might not overlook them, however, I do agree with the fact, that many times intentionally I ignore them. I totally agree with the concept that values can be categorized into core, secondary and derived values.1 The core values do not change with time whereas the other may change. I believe that because of circumstances, the priority of my values set have been changing because of which I have ignored one value for the other. For example, to fulfill my responsibility towards my family, I have often overlooked honesty in my assigned academic work.

3. What do we, as a society, lose if our standards are not reinforced by action against those who break them? Again give some thought before answering. Also provide some examples.

Since values can affect our decisions and actions, therefore, it is very important for us, as a society, to understand that our actions should be in line with our values. Whatever we profess to value and standard, our actions should reinforce them. Various people claim that family is their top value however. they give very little time to their families. Such claims bring discrepancies between our standards and actions. If we do not reinforce our standards by actions then we do not only lose our values and standards but also our identity. For example, value may vary based on culture such as Asians are considered more family oriented as compared to westerns. If family orientation is an important value for Asians, then ignorance to this value can bring the society to lose the identity of being family oriented society. Moreover, only speaking about standards and not reinforcing them through actions can reduce their significance thereby, enhancing compromises on principles and standards.

4. Does living a life based upon one’s ethics cause that person to be unpopular. When you answer, tell me why or why not.

In my view, living a life based upon one’s ethics make the person popular rather than unpopular, however, one’s kinds of prioritized values do matter. The reason is that nowadays, circumstances and environment has changed. Uncertainty has increased the ignorance of people to their values system and standards therefore, people have started compromising with their ethics. If a person claims to live a life with his own ethics in this uncertain environment, he certainly draws the attention of others. Moreover, his ethics make him stronger in his decisions, beliefs and priorities thereby, making him admired.

5. According to your personal beliefs who do you owe an obligation to? When you answer this question support it with an explanation of why you owe them an duty or responsibility.

In my view, I owe an obligation to my family, society and all people who have a direct or indirect link with me. Since my first prioritized value is honesty, therefore, I try to be honest with my obligations and duties. I owe an obligation to society because I believe that human rights are very important and social justice is a moral duty. I owe an obligation to my family because they have always given me love, attention and care and I want to reciprocate. Furthermore, I owe am obligation to everyone who is affected by my action or my behavior. In short, values should be always in line with actions and behavior, therefore even understanding your obligations can assist you in following personal ethical values.
