This reflective report seeks to outline the writer’s experience with the different types of software used in the learning process. Learning with the aid of computers can be subdivided into two main categories namely. integrated learning systems (ILS) as well as integrated tutoring systems (ITS). ILS posits that the learning material is converged into one computer-based system which will give instructions to learners while it shows that there is an interaction between the learner and the computer throughout the learning process with the aid of using computers. Thus, MacDonald et al, (1979) identified four types of software: instructional, revelatory, conjectural and emancipatory. This depends on the nature and scope of the software and the way it is administered or used by the learner.
