Write 3 page essay on the topic A Day in My Life and Brain.

Many scientific researchers had studied the brain in biological terms but it is what goes on in the human mind that intrigues. This paper is a brief discussion of common daily activities that entail various brain processes.

The first activity which I will describe here is the act of listening to music. I listen using my smart phone which is equipped with an FM radio station capability together with a head set. The music I listen to is often soft rock to start my day and get me going by waking up my sleepy brain cells upon getting off from bed after a nights sleep. The radio conveniently provides me with the days news before going off on my way. Music listening involves many physiological changes which are hardly understood because most scientific research studies had focused on the usual audio-visual messages relayed through facial expressions, body language, and speech. However, scientists had shifted their research to new areas such as that of physiological signals for emotion recognition using music listening as a trigger to lead research subjects to the spontaneous reactions associated with music to produce real emotional states (Kim & Andre, 2008) by using four so-called channel bio-sensors to measure changes in the human body.

When I listen to music that I particularly liked, the scientists found significant changes in the four bio-sensors they had chosen as the benchmarks which are electromyogram, respiration changes, skin conductivity, and electrocardiogram. Music listening changes the heart beat of the person, depending on the type of music and the volume of the sound (like very loud volumes) to produce emotional arousal states (positive, negative, high, and low states). Electromyograms (measure the electrical activity of heart muscles during contraction and while at rest) and electrocardiograms (measure the changes in the electrical activity of the heart to help detect any
