As a matter of fact, there are several advantages and merits that have been identified with complementary and alternative medicine that are found in orthodox medicine, a reason for which one will be justified to say that excluding complementary and alternative medicine cannot make the dream to realizing universality of public health care delivery achievable. In this paper, emphasis is placed on Tai Chi is a complementary and alternative treatment of various diseases to underline how efficient Tai Chi is in bringing remediation to people suffering from various forms of health conditions. Effective of Tai Chi in the treatment of chronic health conditions As part of the history of Tai Chi as a martial art originating from China, it would be noted that the purpose of Tai Chi right from the onset has been to be used as a form of exercise and self defense (Lan, Lai and Chen, 2002). Meanwhile, studies have confirmed the place of physical body exercise in the effective treatment of some chronic health conditions (Farrell, Ross and Sehgal, 1999). The best aspect of physical body exercise and for that matter the use of Tai Chi as a complementary and alternative medicine in the treatment of chronic health conditions is that is has also been found to be very useful as a preventive health care intervention. As far as the treatment of chronic health conditions is concerned, engaging in Tai Chi has been found to affect the effective functioning of several organs of the body including the brain, heart, sense organs, and digestive organs (Cuellar, 2006). Any health condition that depends on the effective functioning of these body parts can be guaranteed of effective treatment. Some chronic health conditions that Tai Chi may commonly be used to treat includes cardio vascular diseases, blood circulation related diseases, emotional diseases, weight related diseases and chiropractic conditions (Irwin, Olmstead and Oxman, 2007). This is because these health conditions affect parts of the body that the engagement in Tai Chi emphasizes mostly. In the video, one can see practitioners engaging learners in various acts of body movement that affect the heart, brain, sense organs, muscles, and joints (National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2011). Generally, most of the diseases that have been identified require patients to have a regularized functioning of these organs and systems of the body identified. For Tai Chi to lay emphasis on these organs and systems and their regulated functioning therefore means that these health conditions can be effectively treated by use of Tai Chi as a complementary and alternative medicine. Tai Chi treats the health condition On the specifics of how the methods practiced in Tai Chi treat the conditions mentioned in the paragraph above, it will be noted that for a disease like high blood pressure, risk factors include an absented supply of oxygenated blood to from the heart to other parts of the body. Once there cannot be sufficient supply of oxygenated blood, the functioning of affected body parts become hampered, putting patients in acute conditions (Cuellar, 2006). In other cases, flow outflow from the heart may be functioning alright but a substantial blood inflow to the heart becomes hampered, causing patients to be under attack (Lan, Lai and Chen, 2002).
