Thus men and women parting ways for another person is not something new for today’s world. Researchers believe that this tendency is being passed on through many generations and it exists in our very genes which are expressed by the many chemical reactions that take place within the body. Hence causes for the increasing divorce rates in the present day can be linked to the various chemical changes that take place within the human system that when the initial rush of chemicals within the body dies down the mind gets automatically tuned to seek another person who would revive the chemical surge. Naturally occurring chemical changes within the body coupled with the constantly changing times and thought-process can all be contributing factors to divorce.

Children play a vital role in determining the duration of married life or timing of divorce between two individuals especially when they are in their infancy as one partner will need the assistance of his or her spouse to take care of the child. In the ancient times, the attraction between men and women resulting in sexual encounters produced progeny and individuals began to live together as it was difficult to manage daily activities with a child single-handedly. When the child crosses infancy the men and women get attracted to and seek different partners to start another similar cycle. This process of living together later evolved into marriage but the initial purpose that united people still lingers somewhere deep down in our genes. Thus initially researchers studied that divorce rates generally peak at the fourth year of marriage if a couple has a single child. This was more commonly referred to as the four-year itch. A seven-year itch was considered in case they had their second child after three years as it was predicted that their relationship could last for about four more years. Thus depending on whether they have one child or two children respectively as divorce rates have been found to peak at about four years after marriage.&nbsp.
