Behavior
The behavior of an expert negotiator during the meeting may always remain calm and friendly. Even if unpleasant things go on, he or she should keep cool and try to mold the things in his or her favor. The negotiator should never show extreme gestures like over-excitement or perturbed. A good negotiator should be a good listener.
Feeling elevated
Everything is in the mind. An expert negotiator always feels from within that he is an expert negotiator. An elevated feeling makes half the battle win.
Eye Contact
An expert negotiator peeps into the eyes of the other party while presenting his or her views. This is a psychological action. When someone looks into the eyes of the other while delivering something, the thought gets a direct impact on the mind of the other party. On the other hand, the negotiator should not let the opposite party peep into his or her eyes.
Brinkmanship
An expert negotiator avoids brinkmanship situation. Terms agreed upon by brinkmanship may not have a longer life and can lead to termination of the deal or contract before the expiry its actual tenure.
Communication
Negotiators should adhere to the issue under consideration. A firm attitude may not let the other party present any undue demand. As soon as the terms and course of action are agreed upon, the meeting session shall be called off, to avoid informal interaction. Anticipate the conflict and the way to resolve it.
