This is hard to overestimate the influence of military actions over its participants and inhabitants of the area they take place in. People who serve in the military and veterans are prone to anxiety, substance abuse, re-experiencing of the traumatic events and avoidance of things and situations their trauma is associated with (Wegner, 2011). One more powerful factor is that soldiers often suffer from prolonged separation from their families and friends. Thus, military participation may result into distress and even post-traumatic stress disorder, which requires special attention from military psychologists (APA, 2015). This is possible to mention quite a lot of challenges that service members, veterans, and their families face.
