Write a 3 page essay on Winning by Jack Welch.

Welch insists on rewarding the people who accomplish a company’s mission and punishing the ones who do not. Jack addresses issues on how to employ the right people who will ensure the success of the company (Welch 97). His ways could be ruthless, but one cannot argue with how successful he was in attaining results.

During the hiring of new employees, the candidates must pass three screens. integrity, intelligent and mature. The candidates must tell the truth at all times, should have much knowledge about the business, and should be able to handle setbacks with maturity (Welch 50). Welch gives a lesson on how to use strategy when dealing with competition in any form of business or organization. When dealing with competition the strategy, one uses, will either make them maximum profit or make them lose the whole deal (Welch 165). The strategy should be straightforward in real life. In order to succeed and win, one must pick a general direction they intend to follow and implement it with all he/she has (Welch 165).

Budgeting is another way to success and winning, and Welch writes about how to do it in his book. Most companies do not have the right budget, and this makes them fail. Budget sucks out the fun, energy and big dreams of people in a company. It brings out unproductive behavior in workers and employees. Most companies, when they win is despite them having a budget (Welch 189). The correct way, to come up with a budget is to focus on how the company performed the previous year and what the competition is&nbsp.doing and how to beat them in it. Discussions of these two factors will help the directors of an organization to talk about opportunities in the real world. The directors would then come up with a growth scenario that cannot be opposed (Welch 197).
