Write a 4 pages paper on flim analysis. When viewing the film, one can be transported to an experience that could simply get raise questions to the realities of life. For example, viewers may wonder and ask if it is indeed possible for a father to sacrifice the lives of his own family members only to protect his business. Somewhere in the film, it is mentioned that Italians really value family and this could be seen in the character of Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino. Therefore, it is questioned how far an Italian could go in order to show how he loves his family. Consequently, an argument is raised if valuing one’s family includes killing family members only to maintain peace and order among the others or if it is a message to the people concerned that when it comes to business, family members are not family when they go against the will of the most powerful member. The movie starts with a conflict and the chronological arrangement of the story also begins with the conflict the young Vito Corleone went through. In fact, all throughout the movie, there seemed to be conflict in every scene so that what best suits the explanation of the film is probably the conflict theory. The young Corleone went through difficult times in Italy and had to travel alone to America to escape his death threat imposed by the powerful Italian who killed his family. When he arrived in America though, his battles continued even as he grew up. He witnessed killings and he personally killed people in order to solve his problems until he was placed on a pedestal where he was feared as he gained wealth, fame and power. However, his life was full of conflict which his sons inherited. As the story of the family continues in the series, it is evident that the death of Vito Corleone did not end their reign in the Mafia or the conflicts in their lives. Instead, it seems that the family was dug even deeper to the problems brought about by their illegal activities. The main characters may have started, protecting their family members however, as the story continued, great conflicts within the family occurred. The problems were big and they became threats to the family business that the godfather resorted to killing people, even bloodlines. This shows how far a person could really go if only to protect what is most important to him. It is ironic though, that the film acknowledges that based from the cultural and familial background of the main characters, they greatly value family relationships. Although it is evident that family members who positively contributed to the good of the business were much appreciated and loved, it cannot be denied that those who threatened the family’s relationship with the business partners became the family’s enemy. Although maximum tolerance was maintained when the family members faced each other, plans against those threats are conceived behind their backs. For example, the bad temperament of the older Corleone sibling, Sonny, is considered dangerous for the family business. His father despised this but he made every effort to groom him to become the next godfather or don.
