Hello, I enjoyed reading your post. One of the main points you made was comparing the lessons of Descartes with mass media. It is defiantly true that you can not always trust what see or read on social media or the Internet. This goes a long with Descartes lessons because he started this whole thing because he realized that he had false beliefs. Once he realized that he knew he must throw out all of his beliefs and start new. Descartes needed to start with a solid foundation to know for sure that his beliefs were true. So I agree with what you said because I think the point you making was that the mass media is not always a solid foundation for your knowledge. That makes us think just like Descartes thought. We have to look at our beliefs and figure out whether they are true. To do this we have throw out all of our beliefs that we have learned from mass media and start fresh. The only way to truly know what we know is true is to start with that solid foundation that Descartes did. We do not have follow the same exact route Descartes took but very similar.
Example 2:
I wanted to respond to your post because it rang true for me when you talked about today’s society media. The fact that there is news that is able to be falsified and put into the public hands, without any checks of facts was stated on my essay too. I think that Rene Desecrates would be appalled at the amount of false news. I think he would be disappointed with our philosophical point of view. We as a mass society seems to have a hard time with finding the facts. I think this is because of the loss of common sense.
I talked about how Rene was from the renaissance age. This was the time when people became more aware of art and music and individuality. I feel like Rene Desecrates studies mirrored his time, after all the word Renaissance means rebirth. Studding his ideas from the perspective of today’s society I feel like we use more of our senses then rational deduction. Our world seems to put a lot of emphasis on how something makes them feel rather than the scientific based perception of Rene Desecrates portrays.
I enjoyed your easy and agree with your points.
The reply should be kind of similar like the examples, but with your own words and your opinion.
