Describe in general terms the dimensions of globalization that you think have

been most important for the country you have chosen.

1.  Describe (Japan) the country you have chosen to study in terms of pre-globalization levels (circa 1970

or 1980) and subsequent evolution

Size (population, GDP)

•

Level of development (GDP per capita, life expectancy, caloric intake)

•

Inequality and poverty (Gini coefficients, percent below poverty line, income share of top 10

•

Product mix and factor endowments

•

Trading patterns:  how much, what, and with whom?

•

Degree of macro volatility (variances, crisis periods)

•

Share of labor force that is foreign born, share that has emigrated.

2.  Discuss the possible ways your country might have been affected by globalization.
