you are no longer a presidential advisor. You are now a private citizen who opposes containment. Choose a fellow student's post, and state your objections. Your job is to persuade that particular presidential advisor (i.e. that student's post) that containment is unethical. Be sure to choose a post that has not already been responded to.

As I stand here before you, my hope is to provide all fellow Americans with the understandings and assistance of the type of mission that is to be executed immediately. It is with great intentions and justifications as to why the United States government must proceed with restraining and confining any individual that has come in contact with the Ebola virus. This is a very serious and contagious disease, importantly speaking, protecting the overall public from the ill contents and harmful effects of this disease, is our chief duty. Ignoring the facts and averting any imposed strict guidelines to stopping the spread of this disease is detrimental, therefore we must act swiftly and treat all individuals suspected of having any type of contact or that has fallen ill. With that said, individuals will need to understand that they will be confined to isolation for as long as it takes. The matter of the circumstances is, that this country and abroad cannot continuously allow to place others at risk. Infecting innocent lives and putting our fine medical workers directly into harm’s way should not be, for these workers are at the front lines battling this deadly disease and if it takes to quarantine individuals, then it shall be. “False imprisonment is the unlawful restraint of an individual’s personal liberty or the unlawful restraint or confinement of an individual” … “Detaining patients without statutory protection can constitute false imprisonment. State health codes generally provide guidelines describing under what circumstances a patient may be detained” … “Healthcare organizations should establish protocols for handling patients who have contracted a contagious disease” (Pozgar, 2019, p. 62). The U.S. government does not take very likely the notion of having to quarantined individuals for no reason, America was built on freedom, we must always remember that, but when crisis arise, and if one needs to be detained, permission has been given legally so that further physical endangerment to others will cease. “Isolation and quarantine help protect the public by preventing exposure to people who have or may have a contagious disease. Isolation separates sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick. Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick. In addition to serving as medical functions, isolation and quarantine also are “police power” functions, derived from the right of the state to take action affecting individuals for the benefit of society” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2014). Federal, state and local authorities and administrators are essentially responsible for keeping the public’s health safe. Distributing duties and taking full control to contain the illness within respective state and county boundaries will be implemented. Executing policies on the onset of quarantining those infected or suspected of having been in contact by any means, does warrant a health concern and safety outlook for the general public. Avoiding further exposure and infecting others along the way is the right thing to do. Deadly contagious diseases are no laughing matter and ought to be dealt with immediately, isolation is a must, protecting, preventing and restraining further movements that is deemed a threat to the public is relevant. The administration has been in daily contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), they are highly aware of the situation, and have been providing expert responses to the around the clock monitoring, I am assuring all citizens of this nation that we will not fail anyone but prevail from this crisis. “the United States has excellent infection control procedures and facilities. Among those facilities is a network of quarantine stations, where the CDC can legally detain or order quarantine for anyone who may have been exposed to cholera, diptheria, infectious tuberculosis, plague, smallpox, yellow fever, SARS, new strains of flu, or — relevantly — viral hemmorhagic fevers like Ebola” (Friedman, 2014).
