Your assignment is to describe one example of how total war has extended the impact of war to include everyone, not just those in the military. In your answer, concentrate on the era of World War Two (1936-1945). Use your imagination in your response, but examples of potential topics include: wartime mobilization of civilians as soldiers, women’s role in wartime industrial production and/or military operations, military actions against civilians, resistance movements, industrial total war efforts, the Holocaust, nationalism and propaganda, conventional military bombing, nuclear war, economic competition, counter-culture protests, why wars start, the impact on non-Europeans, and how wars end.
