As of August 1, 2018, Tesla had a total market value of approximately $50 billion, roughly the same as General Motors.   Tesla delivered roughly 40,000 cars in the second quarter this year, while GM produced more than 750,000 automobiles.   Tesla generated huge losses, while GM reported net income of $2.4 billion.   How could Tesla be worth as much as General Motors?
