First heading: Introduction and Describing the Patterns of Use of this Population:

Min. of two paragraphs (no less than 8 sentences per paragraph). Introduce your population, prevalence, and specifically describe pattern of alcohol use for this population. What type of patterns are common? Are there differences in patterns of alcohol use within the population? Geographic differences, etc.? These two paragraphs  are followed by references used in the paragraphs , but they are in annotated format. What does annotated format mean? You provide the APA reference as usual, but also include the abstract that was written for the article. Don't create your own abstract, just copy and paste the abstract and place immediately under the APA reference. See the sample in the syllabus!!!! You repeat the process until every reference used in the two paragraphs are included. If the article does not have an abstract, it is not a research article. Remember to format your paper so that font size and type of font are the same.

Second Heading: Beliefs Surrounding Alcohol Use Within This Group.

Min. of two paragraphs (no less than 8 sentences per paragraph). What are the beliefs about alcohol use with the population? For example, if you selected African American Women, you would describe the various beliefs that African American women hold about alcohol use? Do they see it as acceptable? Are there specific sub-groups that don't drink alcohol for specific reasons? For this population, you would need to look at the variety of beliefs based on geographic regions. Are there customs, economic issues, historical trauma that shape the beliefs? This section is about the beliefs that the population holds. These two paragraphs  are followed by annotated reference format  (APA reference plus abstract, see above). 

Third Heading: Comparison to Other Groups Nationally Using National Population Studies Only (see the first paragraph on how you know if it is a National Study), e.g.,  National Household Survey on Drug Abuse,

Min. of two paragraphs (no less than 8 sentences per paragraph). Summarize the National Studies. Look at the differences in prevalence, type of alcohol use, patterns of use, treatment patterns. These two paragraphs  are followed by annotated reference format (APA reference plus abstract, see above). 

Fourth Heading: Bio-psychosocial Effects and Consequences Specific to this Population.

Min. of two paragraphs (no less than 8 sentences per paragraph). How does alcohol affect the family constellation and dynamics specific in the population? How does alcohol affect work, socio-economic status? Health? General wellness and life satisfaction? Significant relationships? What alcohol-related consequences appear more prevalent in the population? Are specific social, familial, health patterns more evident in this population? These two paragraphs  are followed by annotated reference format (APA reference plus abstract, see above).  So here it is...  please confirm that you read the announcement. Go to discussion 3, look for my thread (you have to post first to find it), the thread is called alcohol population. This is worth 2 points for the discussion. You don't gain points, but rather lose them if you don't confirm within this week. 

Fifth Heading: Help-Seeking and Treatment Beliefs Specific to this Population

Min. of two paragraphs (no less than 8 sentences per paragraph). What are the beliefs that the population have about looking for help, going to counseling or treatment? Do they rely more on non-westernized healing? Do they use formal services? Is there a stigma about going for help? etc. These two paragraphs are followed by annotated reference format (APA reference plus abstract, see above). 

Sixth Heading : Specific Prevention and Treatment Strategies Used with this Population.

Min. of two paragraphs (no less than 8 sentences per paragraph). What are the evidence-based practices that are specific usually used within this population. Are they specific treatment that better for this population than another population? What novel interventions or culturally-specific interventions are available for treating alcohol for this population. Nothing generic. These two paragraphs  are followed by annotated reference format (APA reference plus abstract, see above).

I took the time to outline the project now to give those who are planners an opportunity to move forward successfully. After reviewing some of the entries within "Research Project Population," to give approval,  it was evident that a few students didn't read the syllabus re the project.  Please be responsible and remember why you taking classes -- Your long-term goals happen with each step!
