Upper-echelon leadership effectiveness is often measured by organizational success.  However, such success may be reliant on factors beyond the leader’s control.  Find a real-world example of a leader you believe was doing things right but was removed from their position or lost their company because of lack of organizational success.  Discuss the evidence that points to their leadership effectiveness and explain what external or internal events contributed to the failure of their organization’s goals.  To accomplish this, complete the following learning objectives:

Identify your leaders and explain why you believe they were effective in their respective roles.

Summarize the environment in which they led; explain the political climate, industry, organization, etc., as needed to appropriately frame the leadership problem.

List the organization’s goals and explain why they were not met.

Synthesize information from the textbook and external research to offer solutions for what actions the CEO might have done differently to garner organizational success. If such success was beyond the CEO’s ability to obtain by any means, you must fully explain why.
