Health promotion has changed overtime by the understanding of health and needs by society. During the early 19th century, health knowledge was in its early stages, and the idea of proper hygiene was not relevant or practiced (GCU, 2018). In that era, being free of disease was their defining feature for health. Overtime, it has evolved into more intricate studies, such as involving disease-prevention and mental awareness, when health shifted after understanding sanitization around the late 19th and early 20th century (GCU, 2018).

One of a nurse’s important key role in health care is education, especially health promotion and prevention. Considering this vital role in mind, presenting ideas to patients and their families requires to be backed up by the latest evidenced-based practice (EBP) information (GCU, 2018). In doing so, this will help improve patient outcomes and stay up-to-date with the current and safest practice (GCU, 2018).
