A stream containing 15% methane, 20% ethane, 30% propane and the balance i-butane flows at 100 lbmole/hr, 60°F and atmospheric pressure into a compressor unit. There, the stream is compressed at a constant temperature to 50 psia. The stream exiting the compressor flows into a cooler unit and is then cooled to 10°F at constant pressure. If condensation occurs, the resulting vapor and liquid are further separated in a separator unit.
Solve for the volumetric flow rate of the compressor exit stream. Consider only the compressor in your calculations (i.e. a single unit performing isothermal compression). Use the compressibility factor equation of state. Hint: You will need different z values for inlet and outlet of the compressor unit.
