analyze our current situation under capitalism.  Identify and discuss the central problems that people face in a capitalist society.  You may discuss such issues as inequality, alienation, competition, racism, class divisions, environmental issues, instability, consumerism, or poverty (or others you may think of).  For your essay, support your analysis with your own personal experience and/or your observations about society.  You can also draw on any readings that you have done.  This is primarily a test on your writing, so your essay should be clear, grammatical, and well-organized.  Do not write on all the issues but only a few that you have the most to say about.
