1.     What is the problem of evil? Why does J.L. Mackie think that the free will defense cannot successfully explain why an omnipotent and wholly good God would create a world with evil in it? Alvin Plantinga thinks it is possible that God might nevertheless have a good reason for creating a world in which humans sometimes feely do evil. What might this reason be?
