- Part 2aAfter a lecture (click here for video) and presentation on our course topics and a follow up discussion from our prior evening regarding your personal SWOT analysis, you will work independently to identify at least 6 job descriptions that are for jobs currently available using any Internet tools you deem purposeful. You will copy and paste the job description into a Word document, and include the company name, the title, and the salary range (if available). You will need to identify the skill sets required for the job positions. Then, at the end of this exercise, each of you will list the title of the job you seek and the top 5 job requirements for that position. Each of you will speak out loud independently to the class and list the title of the job you see and the top 5 job requirements for that position.Part 2bAfter a lecture and presentation on our course topics and further discussion on IT skill sets and how you may all improve your own capabilities so you can attain the job title and position you seek, you will work independently to conduct an analysis using Microsoft Excel. Leave a row at the top for the company name and title of the six identified jobs you selected. In the first column, you will list your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats identified from Part 1 yesterday. In the second column, you will list the company name or job at the top, and put an ‘X’ in the box where the specific job requirement listed aligns with your SWOT identified in the first column. For example, if you list “Communication Skills” as a strength and the job description lists it as a strength or requirement, you would put an ‘X’ in that box. At the end of this exercise, you would have identified your strengths and weaknesses, as well as the job that is most suitable for you today. Each of you will speak out loud independently to the class and identify the job most suited for you today, as well as what was most surprising and/or educational about this exercise.Submit BOTH the Word document from Part 2a and the Excel spreadsheet from Part 2b as two separate attachments to the ‘Residency Saturday Project’ course assignment by the end of the day today in order to receive credit.
