Assignment 1 Overview
The final document that composes a strategic plan for a healthcare organization has had significant input from a wide range of stakeholders. Yet it is essential that workers at all levels of responsibility in the healthcare industry can use written content to guide their actions in their workplaces.
Assignment 1 allows students to produce their evaluation of how well a leader in the field did in communicating a direction for its stakeholders to follow. At the same time, Chapter 3 provides students with a grounding in business strategic theories and language.

Assignment 1 Instructions:
The vignette at the beginning of Modules 1 and 2 was imagined, but the Johns Hopkins Medicine Strategic Plan is real-world. Read this Strategic Plan before you proceed. (See Required Readings.)
Review Chapter 3: Business Models and Common Strategies, pages 47-79 in Walston, S. L. (2023). Strategic healthcare management: Planning and execution (3rd ed.). Health Administration Press.
1. Utilize the Checklist for Critiquing the Strategic Plan for your point-by-point evaluation:
A. Foundation: Evaluate the Strategic Plan.
B. Clarity and Coherence: Evaluate for Clarity and Coherence.
C. Relevance: Evaluate for Relevance.
D. Implementation Plan: Evaluate the Implementation Plan.
E. Communication and Acceptance: Evaluate Communication and Acceptance.
F. Innovation and Future Readiness: Evaluate for Innovation and Future Readiness.
G. Call to Action: Evaluate for Call to Action.
