Bonding

Below you will find a file entitled "Trauma Bonding".  This file includes excerpts from an article on trauma therapy and facts about the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC).  Respond to the following questions after reading the assigned materials.

• Define trauma bonding.  How does it occur?
• What is the relationship between fear and bonding?
• How does this concept help explain the "Why doesn't she leave?" or "Why didn't they tell someone?" questions that are often asked when we find out about abusive situations?
• Does this help explain also why children who were abused have a higher likelihood of getting into abusive relationships later?  If so, why?
