Assignment: What you can learn from Observing Young Children

Consider the following scenario:

As a lead teacher at Happy Hearts Childcare Center, you have developed a deep awareness of the importance of carefully observing the young children in your care to better understand their strengths and needs. You recently led a professional development session on this topic for your colleagues at the center. Your director was impressed by your growing expertise in this area and has suggested that you submit a proposal to present on observation and assessment in early childhood for the National Head Start Association (NHSA) Conference scheduled to take place in your city later this year. 

You’re excited about this opportunity and decide to create a PowerPoint Presentation that offers insights on what can be learned from observing children, the importance of observing objectively, and why, and how family members can observe and learn about children at home.
