We know from Unit 1 Chapter 6 that hemoglobin can take various physical conformations, some more stable than others, under different circumstances and that like any other protein, hemoglobin has a temperature at which it begins to denature. From a brief look at one of our Case Connections from Unit 1, we also know that several chemicals and conditions have a conformational effect on hemoglobin. Based on this information, would the conformational state of hemoglobin or bodily concentrations of certain chemicals (within reason) have an effect on its denaturation temperature? Why or why not?
