Japanese Americans in WWII
COLLAPSE
This year is the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066 that incarcerated 110,000 men, women, and children of Japanese descent, mostly U.S. citizens during WWII. View the PBS Documentary Manzanar: Never Again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgmY2P-xT_Y . Link is also on the last slide of the lecture notes; 15 minutes).
Did you learn about this event in U.S. history? What are your thoughts and feelings after watching the video? Cite some information in the film. (If you are interested in learning more about Japanese Americans, you may want to visit Little Tokyo and the Japanese American National Museum for your research project.)
