How does Suggestibility Affect the Eyewitness Testimony Misinformation

Brainerd, C.J. & Reyna, V.F., (1998). Fuzzy-trace theory and children's false memories. Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 71, 2: 81–129.

In this article, Brainerd and Reyna (1998) wanted to investigate the effect of false memory recall and how this was affected by suggestibility in children. They used the Fuzzy-trace theory's concepts to investigate the false memory issues and how this affected the eyewitness memory falsification.

This study intended to investigate the way false memory works in children and how this affect their eyewitness memory.

Bruck, M. & Melnyk, L., (2004) Individual differences in children's suggestibility: a review and synthesis. Applied Cognitive Psychology, 18, 8: 947–996.

This article wanted to investigate the individual memory suggestibility in children and how this together with suggestibility affects the eyewitness account of the child.

Coxon, P. & Valentine, T., (1997)). The effects of the age of eyewitnesses on the accuracy and suggestibility of their testimony. Appiled Cognitive Psychology, 11: 415-430.

This study was geared towards investigating how age affects the level of suggestibility in eye witness account. The subjects were tested to identify how age related to the level of memory as well as how suggestibility related to age.

Marche, T. (1999). Memory Strength Affects Reporting of Misinformation. Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 73, 1: 45–71.

In this study, Marche (1999) wanted to investigate how suggestibility affected children memory by subjecting them to a memory test. The children viewed slides and then their memory was tested and this made it possible to investigate suggestibility effect on their memory.

Zaragoza, M.S. & Sean, M.L., (1994). Source misattributions and the suggestibility of eyewitness memory. Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 20, 4:934-945.

This study wanted to investigate the way in which the suggestibility of memory affects the individual in memory recall in an eyewitness account situation. The subjects tested on memory recall to see how age affected the level of suggestibility effect. Subjects were subjected to memory tests to identify how suggestibility affected their memory both in the short as well as the long term.
