Complete 9 pages APA formatted article: Ida B Wells, a Great Communicator. &nbsp.George Washington possessed the military skills that enabled a loosely connected group of colonies to conquer what was, at the time, the most powerful nation in the world.&nbsp. He was a learned man and considered one of the best statesmen of his era. Without his leadership, the United States may not exist in its present form today. Abraham Lincoln had an even temperament, was fair-minded and understood the importance of bringing together a nation divided. Martin Luther King Jr. was a simple preacher who was called into action by an emerging civil rights movement and through his leadership, minds were changed, laws were enacted and an entire race of people was lifted into the mainstream of society.

All of these famous people had developed the appropriate skills thus were in a uniquely advantageous position to effect social changes in their time period. The most important skill each possessed was the ability to communicate their thoughts well. Without this skill, all the other abilities they had developed would have been useful in their chosen professions but insufficient to evoke the massive, historical transformations in the social condition that all of them were destined to lead. Communication is the instrument by which injustices are remedied. It involves much more than just talking about an issue, anyone and everyone do that. The gravity of the message must be clearly understood and the receiver(s) of the message must feel compelled to action or the issue in question cannot be remedied. The communicator must strike the delicate balance necessary so that people of all educational levels and backgrounds understand the importance of the message. They also must have the means to relay this message to a broad audience. Great oratory skills are imperative but if the message is not understood or fails to reach the masses, nothing significant happens, the ‘if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it’ scenario.&nbsp.There are relatively few people in history that were in the right place at the right time, had developed the necessary skills and had the courage to effect change on a broad scale.&nbsp.
