Compose a 500 words assignment on analysis of 10 benefits of reading: why you should read every day article by lana winter hebert. Needs to be plagiarism free! Number] Response Essay In “10 benefits of reading: why you should read every day" by Lana Winter Hebert, the author emphasizes on the scientifically proven advantages of reading every day. Hence, Winter Hebert’s speculation that brain requires persistent activity in order to retain its power, is particularly true (Winter Hebert, 1). I so believe this notion because reading revitalizes our mental status at any time. If a person is engaged in physical activity he completely focuses on physical development similarly, if a person reads he refreshes, enhances, and nourishes his mental capabilities. Moreover, the author believes that like any other body part brain also requires healthy activity, which can only be done if it is engaged in an activity, which develops it like reading, doing cross words, word puzzles, riddles, scrabble, chess and other intellectual activities.

One of my friends only plays video games and he has attained expertise in them to a great extent, but when it comes to writing one page on himself, he is literally lost and helpless. He has no vocabulary to describe himself, his life, or his activities. The main reason for it is, he has not been using his brain in a healthy manner. His brain is accustomed of rapid decision making actions, observing pictorial change, and acting according to it, but it is not accustomed of reading words and writing them ever. Reading not only enhances knowledge it also increases word power, it enables a person to describe his experiences aptly and also enables him to understand the diverse vocabulary used around his surroundings.

I completely agree to Winter Hebert’s viewpoint, ‘Stress slips away when you lose yourself in a great story’ (Ibid, 1). One of my acquaintances lost her two and a half year old baby girl, nothing in the world could console her or help her to soothe for a while. After some time when friends and family stepped back and she had all the time to remember and cry, she hid her head in quality reading. The stories took her away for a while from her pain and misery and eventually she could feel that reading novels could soothe and console her in a manner which nothing else could do.

Winter Hebert wisely said, that everything in life can be taken back just except knowledge (ibid, 1). I agree to this statement as well, as in my life I have lost a lot of important relations and achievements. I dwelled in pools of stress because I lost an important person in my life. Even then, when people pointed towards my unfortunate fate, I had experience and knowledge of writing, which few people can ever get. Although, at that time relationship seemed more important, but later on I realized that social status only enables you ‘to be remembered by your status’ but one’s knowledge and wisdom enables him to be recalled due to his skill and significance.

Winter Herbert rightly claims that reading self-help books helps in mood disorder and mental illness (ibid, 3). I have had a phase of mood swings when I couldn’t cope up with my family and friends. I was bitter, advices seemed like sarcasm and taunts, I became edgy and snipped at anyone who tried to help or console me. After sometime, when people left me alone to be normal, I tried to fill my loneliness with Jan Scott’s book “Overcoming Mood Swings: A Self-Help Guide Using Cognitive Behavioral Techniques”. Inside I knew it was me, who was making my life more intricate then the uncertain happening in my life. Therefore, I read and recognized how I should act and deal with my sour mood and how to prevent it from happening at all.
