Create a 1 page page paper that discusses management of human resources class discussion wk5. Business Week 5: Management of Human Resources Discussion Customized and standardized approaches to analysis of jobs and competencies

In an organization standardized approaches facilitate the smooth process of comparing the results obtained from one job, with the results obtained from other jobs (Jackson, Schuler & Werner, 2012). The jobs might be from different organizations and they may be similar or not. It is an approach that also helps in making an analysis for the competencies which are critical in determining job performance.

There are also customized approaches that the human resource personnel use to make an inventory which contains a list of the tasks or characteristics required in a job. The inventory is useful because for storing specific data of jobs under analysis (Jackson, Schuler & Werner, 2012). This approach is not only used when measuring the main job tasks, but also used for identifying needed competencies

Q.1.Would you use a customized or standardized approach when conducting job analysis?

I would prefer to use the customized approach when conducting job analysis because it provides more information about a job. These particulars are crucial when it comes to creating a feedback system that gives details on a potential employee’s performance (Jackson, Schuler & Werner, 2012). It is also useful for coming up with training programs useful as a tool for motivating employees (Jackson, Schuler & Werner, 2012).

Q.2. Would you use a customized or standardized approach when analyzing competencies?

I would use a standardized approach when analyzing job competencies because it is useful and gives all the details necessary after a potential employee gets fully assessed.

Q.3. Critical thinking

It would be more important for an organization to standardize its jobs and competency analyses so that each potential employee gets treated the same way. Fair treatment at workplace for all is more advantageous than when people are treated individually.
