Cell inclusions are the products of cell metabolism, appearing and disappearing at various stages of cell life cycle.

In plants they may be reserve foods (starch), inorganic materials (calcium salts), secretory products (pigments) or excretory products (tannins) .

Glycogen , and crystalline inclusions are often found in animal cells.
