Discovery Timeline Presentation

Create 5- to 10-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation (with speaker notes) that shows a timeline displaying at least five significant discoveries made by humans prior to the 20th century, and five significant inventions made by humans prior to the 20th century. Neither should come from prehistory. Identify each item as a discovery or invention.

• A discovery, as defined here, is when new knowledge is uncovered about something that already exists. For example, the discovery of the electron by J. J. Thomson in 1897 would be considered a discovery. Consider fields like medicine, biology, botany, and astronomy.
• An invention is defined as the creation of something new and something that can be built.  An example would be the steam engine, invented by Thomas Newcomen in 1712.

Include the approximate date of the discoveries and inventions, as well as a short five- to six-sentence description.

Include the names of the principal discoverers and inventors and an explanation of why the discovery or invention is significant.

Arrange your list chronologically and provide examples of how the discoveries and inventions helped human beings to understand their relationship with nature.
