One of the advantages to using e-learning is that it can be done at the pace that they want but can be time consuming if the person can’t understand the material or have a drive to do so. Another advantage to the use of e-learning for companies is that it is more cost effective as well as less time consuming, but if a person must repeat such classes to many times they will cause the price to be greater than that of a normal class room. One of the many goals that are suitable for attaining during diversity training is making sure that everyone that is going through the training understands the cultures of people that they work with. Another one would be to help everyone to get along if they are at work with the person. A complete performance management system differs from our annual performance appraisals on many different is that an appraisal is just an evaluation of your skill and abilities and performance system is to make sure the goals of the company are being met. Some of the step that a manager can take to improve his/her employees performance is by listening to what complaints they have and try to help and fix the issue before it become a major problem for them. They could also have meeting with their people to make sure that that all issues are at the front of their mind in order to fix them in a timely.

There are a number of advantages to e-learning. I like it because it is more flexible with my busy schedule. It is also less expensive to take an online training course than one in person. Another advantage is mobility. You can take your work and learning with you anywhere that there is an internet connection (“Pros and Cons of eLearning | Digitalchalk Blog, 2013).

But where there are pros, there are always cons. One disadvantage to e-learning is a lack of structure. A person with low motivation will most likely not do well with e-learning. There can also be issues with internet connections. E-learning can be difficult in rural areas. Lastly is computer proficiency. A person that is not savvy with operating a computer will have difficulty with e-learning (“Pros and Cons of eLearning | Digitalchalk Blog, 2013).

Suitable goals for diversity training can include promoting better teamwork, increasing participants’ cultural awareness, and reducing discrimination (Anand & Winters, 2008). It is also a goal to move leaders from “minimization” to “acceptance.” This would discern cultural patters (Anand & Winters, 2008). Another goal would be to change mindsets of altered views and beliefs.

Performance appraisals and performance management are two completely different things. A performance appraisal is an evaluation of performance for an employee. Performance management is the process of identifying, measuring, managing and developing performance (Morrison, 2014).

Managers need to make sure that their staff has a full understanding of their duties if they expect them to perform well. If an employee is observed doing something incorrectly, it is sometimes best not to call on them in front of their peers. Instead, pull that employee aside and explain to them what is being done wrong and how to do it right. Managers should be motivating and not condescending.
