Introduction

Thedaily life activities of an individual are the outcome of his personal, environmental and occupational experiences. His performance is controlled bymotor, cognitive and physical responses to certain tasks. Occupational Therapyis a modern technique which helps the persons with any physical, mental orpsychological disability to be independent and to make them confident enough tocarry out their tasks and to make their performance effective in theiroccupation. Occupational therapist OT after understanding of person’sweaknesses and impairment, help him to meet his expectation about his abilitiesand skills.

The day I spent with my daughter in herschool was one of the best day of my life. That say I realized the untoldpsychological problem of small creations of God. The motor, sensory, physicaland mental disabilities of these young children affect their learningabilities. The children with special needs also require personal growth andlearning experiences to be a skill full person of the society he lives in. Theoccupation of small kids in their young age is their ability to learn, play andunderstand their environment. This knowledge then becomes the part of theirbehavior and values. Ridge Ruxton is one of the best school of the area whichprovide awfully caring environment to the disable students to make themconfident and independent by focusing on their personal growth. The studentshere come from different sects of society with different mental, psychologicaland physical disabilities. The staff of the school is really very caring andhelpful who dedicated themselves for the betterment of special children. Theirdevotion and commitment to these young children who rely on them to learn howto eat, walk, read and behave, is wonderful.  (Occupational Therapy , 2016)

Thatday, the students from other schools were also invited. They participated inracing together and playing games. Seeing them to express their happiness aftertheir success was the best sight of my life which hit my heart with the feelingof overwhelmed love for them. After a long session of playing and racing, theschool staff helped them to eat their lunch. After that it was the time ofoccupational therapist who regularly visit them for their personal growth withdiscussions and involvement with them. I helped occupational therapist toorganize the class rooms. It was a heartwarming experience. Occupationaltherapist then paid attention to every student and helped him to do certaintask according to his/her disability. For example Kim, 7 years old, was unableto keep steady movements due to the malfunctioning of motor neurons. OT taughthim how to hold pencil to write, he also taught him how to copy fromblackboard. Julie who was a cute girl of 4 years, cannot walk due to herbackbone disorder. OT was very kind to her. He taught him the use ofspecialized equipment such as wheel chair and devices for dress change. Therewere other students too, whom he went to.

The young impaired students experience failure in daily life tasks and lowself-esteem and confidence which influence their performance in physicalactivities, social relations with friends and family and academic excellenceand learning. The occupational therapist apply top-down approach to make theirperformance affective and confident. (Whalen, 2002)

Ridge Ruxton, by applying theadvancements in the field of occupational therapy to their students, is helpingthem in a divine way for their personal growth, creating self-confidence andmaking them a skillful fragment for their society.
