Euthyphro is one of the most famous of Plato's dialogues, the Socratic dialogues, where the real-life philosopher Socrates is the main character.

Euthyphro is one of the most famous of Plato's dialogues, the Socratic dialogues, where the real-life philosopher Socrates is the main character. The dialogue has a history of criticism and respect for several reasons-: it is written as a dialogue, a discussion involving two persons and two point-of-view, but with the purpose of arriving at agreement; it is a fine example of Socrates' style, his unassuming yet clever manner, as well as his superb usage of irony ; lastly it is of great interest to philosophers, theologians, and students as Socrates lays out some very important ideas that have lasting importance, not the least of which concerns the relationship between The gods (in monotheism , God) and goodness.

Before you attempt this assignment I suggest you read the dialogue several times, the second time take notes. I will also recommend in linked material a reading of the dialogue , let yourself just listen, and a recommended You Tube lecture on the dialogue. Give yourself plenty of time to consider this assignment, there's much to ponder over. Proofread your work carefully, use secondary sources sparingly, and if you do cite them appropriately.

 3. What is moral relativism ? Based on your reading of this dialogue would Euthyphro and Socrates be appropriately labeled as moral relativists -- look for a good clear explanation of moral relativism online or in source material, make sure your source is objective? Explain.
